How to Order
Placing an order with MAD ABOUT TOOLS is easy and secure...
You can browse the Shop, add or subtract product items - your order will ONLY be processed when you get to the Confirm & Place Order screen, here you click the large button marked 'Place Your Order' which appears on the screen after entering your credit card details.
Your credit card will ONLY be debited when your goods are despatched.
Finding a product
You can search for a product using the Search bar at the top of each page. Type in a keyword such as "hammer drill" and click 'search'. If you know the product code simply type it into the code search box and click 'search. Or if you are looking for a specific brand such as 'Hitachi' click the down arrow for a drop down box with a choice of Brands.
Adding the item to 'Your Trolley'
When you have found the item you require, add it to your trolley or type the quantity into the quantity box and click the tab key (usually the key above the Caps Lock). Your trolley will update automatically. You can see the 'My Trolley' pane at all times on the top right of the website. The last item you entered will also be displayed. When you have added all the items you require click the 'Trolley & Checkout' button in 'My Trolley'.
You can also view the prices in the shop and in the Trolley inclusive or exclusive of VAT. Click the 'Trolley & Checkout' button and then click the 'prices inc/ex VAT' button in the yellow box at the bottom of the 'My Trolley' screen.
To change any quantities on this screen, change the quantity by manually entering the quantity you require against the item and click the button 'Update Quantities'. To delete an individual item, tick the box on the left hand side of the product item and click the 'Delete Selected' button. From this screen you can also click 'Back to Shop' to continue shopping or 'Proceed to Checkout'.
Checking out your order
On this screen you are invited to 'Log In' if you have previously shopped with us or if you have pre-registered to claim a voucher. If you are a New Customer click the 'Continue' button and complete the online form. This won't take long and ensures that the next time you shop with us all your details will be saved to make shopping even quicker next time. For security reasons please provide a land line phone number and not just a mobile number. When entering your invoice address please ensure that this is the address to which your credit card is registered.
Checking out after logging in
You will need to click the 'Proceed to Checkout' button again, this time you will go straight to the Invoice/Delivery details screen to check your invoice and delivery details are correct.
You will also need to select your Delivery Options for FREE delivery if applicable or FASTER delivery. You can also add Special Instructions and any other information if required. Please note that as all orders must be signed for, any requests to 'leave goods by back door' etc. will be ignored. Click 'Continue' when you are ready. Click 'Continue' when you are ready.
The next screen is the Payment Details screen. Payment can be made by credit card or debit card online through our secure online site. We accept most major credit cards, VISA & Mastercard. When you choose to pay by credit card your card will only be authorised at this stage, your card will not be debited until your goods are despatched.
There is an initial order value limit of £500 including VAT for payments made by credit card. If you wish to place an order in excess of this amount please complete the transaction and we will contact you for more details or to provide you with our bank details for a direct bank transfer to our account.
We do not store any card details only a card description of your choice and a unique reference which allows us to charge your card when the goods are despatched.
Claiming a promotional voucher
If you have previously shopped with us or if you pre registered before shopping for the first time you will be able to enter your voucher code on the payment details screen, the total to pay will be updated before you confirm your order on the last screen.

Confirm and place your order
After the payment screen you will be taken to the last screen which shows your order with any additional delivery charges and promotionary discounts, please check this carefully, you may still amend any part of the order including the delivery address and payment method by clicking Edit, you will not lose your order or any other details.
When you are happy that everything is correct click 'Place Your Order'.
You will now be given an order number which you may use to query your order at any time. You may also check your order status by going to 'My Account' you may also print off copies of your order and invoices.
We aim to deliver orders received before 12:00 noon to you NEXT WORKING DAY before 5pm subject to product availability.
- Orders received before 12:00 noon on Friday will be dispatched for delivery on Monday.
- Orders received after 12:00 noon on Friday will be dispatched on Monday for delivery on Tuesday.
- We regret we are currently unable to offer a Saturday morning delivery option.
Should there be any unreasonable delay on any product item ordered we may part ship or you will be notified of the delay.
