Gripit 20mm Heavy Duty Plasterboard Fixing
GRIPIT20-2
Grip It Fixings are universal fixings designed to be able to be used on the "dot and dab" plasterboard as well as the normal hollow cavity walls. Due to its slim griping wings it is able to open easily within the void to produce an effective secure fixing with excellent load bearing capability excelling any cavity wall fixing currently available.
The Type 20-2 Grip It Fixing has a maximum loading of up to 160kgs per fixing (safe working load of 80kgs). It is most suitable for installations of bathroom furniture, radiators, water heaters and cabinets.
Drill Hole Size - 20mm
Screw Size - M6 Threaded Screw or Bolt
GRIP IT FIXINGS TESTING
Tests were carried out on all four types of Grip It fixiings using the following board:-
LARFARGE - GTEC standard board - Britsh Standard EN 520 : 2004 + A1 : 2009
Breaking Load N210 = 21.414kgs = 0.21kN
A single Plasterboard with a thickness of 12.5 mm
Objective:
The object of the tests are to establish the load or weight carrying capacity of each of the four types of "Grip It" cavity wall fixings, that have been specially designed and developed for attaching a range of components such as radiators, wall cupboards, flat screen television sets, shelf brackets and curtain rails etc to dry linings, cavity walls, hollow cavity walls and plasterboard ceiling applications
The carrying capacity for each of the fixings was determind by Tensile and Shear loading, plus canterlever loads.
Cantilever loads were measured at distances of 50mm, 75mm and 150mm from the vertical face of the plasterboard
Test Method:
A timber framework dimensionally representative of a domestic stud partition internal wall was erected and the 12.5mm plasterboard was secured using drywall screws.
Each type of Grip It fixing was seperatly secured into the plasterboard by following the installation procedures as laid down by Grip It Fixings.
Using a specially designed test rig and digital weight monitor each Grip It type was subjected to the various tests of Shear, tensile and cantilever. All readings were recorded in in Kilograms, Newtons and British pounds weight.

Observations:
During the testing procedures no Grip It fixing failed the failure in all the test cases was the plasterboard.
It can be seen from the test results that the Grit It fixings when compared with other types of plasterboard wall fixings have a greater and safer load carrying capacities.
